Coach Sark has been a leader & contributor to society ever since a junior high teacher by the name of
Ed Payne took a personal interest in him. Sark was voted "least likely to succeed" by his junior high
classmates, and was ready to drop out of school, when Mr. Payne bought him a hamburger and a malt and
changed the direction of his life. He graduated from Granite HS, 1941 - after serving as an officer
in the US Navy during WWII, he graduated from Dixie College, 1949 - University
of Utah, 1950 - and received a Masters Degree from Utah State University, 1960.
Summary of Coach Sark's Background & Accomplishments:
Over a 50 year coaching career - 71.5 winning percentage - High School & College (including Dixie College,
Weber State, and Colorado State University).
Started his coaching career in Junior HS, and now at 80 years of age is volunteering as the Head Coach in a
Junior HS.
Member of the following Hall of Fames - Dixie College, Weber State, Pop Warner, National Football Foundation,
and Granite HS.
Utah Sports "Coach of Merit" Award.
All-American Football Foundation Award.
Special United States Presidential Citation for Humanitarian Act Award, from President Richard Nixon.
Coached and promoted and/or introduced Football in Europe, Japan, and Armenia.
Served for 4 years as a Professional Football Scout.
Founded and owned several successful businesses.
